NEAT Conference on East Asian Investment Cooperation and the 3rd East Asia Forum were successfully held in Beijing, China on 14-15 July 2007. This NEAT Conference was hosted by China Foreign Affairs University. Scholars and experts from 9 ASEAN member countries (Brunei was absent) and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea participated in the Conference. There were 4 panels:
- Progress and current situation of East Asian investment cooperation.
- Opportunities & prospects for East Asian investment cooperation.
- Problems & obstacles in East Asian investment cooperation.
- Proposals & suggestions for furthering East Asian investment cooperation.
The opening session was chaired by Amb. Wu Jianmin, NEAT Co-interim Coordinator and President of the China Foreign Affairs University. Cheng Siwei, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, P.R.C., Liao Xiaoqi, Vice Minister of Commerce of China, Cui Tiankai, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China delivered opening remarks. Jusuf Wanandi, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of CSIS Foundation of Indonesia, Kim Jae Chul, Former Chairman of Korea International Trade Association and Chairman of Dongwon Group, Hatakeyama Noboru, Chairman of Japan Economic Foundation, Prof. Qin Yaqing, Executive Vice President of China Foreign Affairs University and a few other distinguished guests gave keynote speeches.
